Dear Prime Time Player Letter
Apr. 22nd, 2018 06:29 pmFirst and foremost: thank you for creating for me! This is my first fic exchange and hence consequently my first exchange letter; so here's to a mutually pleasant new experience! 🍻
My ao3 is ohmyvalar.
The following (too-long) list is purely for optional reference; except for the DNWs, feel free to ignore the prompts below if you so wish (so please don't be pressured lol, my headcanons just overtook my prompting process!) On the other hand, if you love reading long, incoherent paragraphs of what is essentially fandom rambling, please read on and enjoy(?)
General
Do-Not-Wants: crack, ooc, gratuitous gore, bestiality, necrophilia, underage (below 17), watersports, tragedy, non-canonical major character death/permanent disabilities, coffee-shop AU etc, issue fic, soulmate AU, ABO AU
(brief mentions of all listed above are fine, just don't have the fic centered on them, please!)
Likes: angst with a happy ending, nostalgia, deliberate moral dissonance, unhealthy coping mechanisms, dirty talk, dubious consent (in relation to unhealthy coping mechanisms)
Additional notes: smut isn't necessary, but would be a nice cherry on top of a plot(?); meaningful genderswap is okay (with possible repercussions on their socio/political status not brushed over etc); Character A/Character B = personal preference, but versatile works too!
Classical Greece and Rome History & Literature RPF
Julius Caesar/Marcus Junius Brutus the Younger
Possible Tropes: power imbalance, conflicting loyalties, canon divergence, AU (either historical but w changed dynamics, or any other time period but w unchanged dynamics?), Emotionally-Aloof!Caesar/Confused-Pining!Brutus, Creepy-Benefactor!Caesar/Manipulative!Brutus?
Ah, the delicious possibilities of this ship. How does Servilia's long-standing affair with Caesar affect - or even kick-start - her son's relationship with him? Does Caesar ever see Brutus as anything other than his lover's son/replacement first? Maybe Cicero's taunt about Junia and Caesar reaches Brutus too? Pre-Caesar's Civil War: Childhood (platonic) interactions in Servilia's house? Tension-filled, testing conversations in the lead-up to the crossing of the Rubicon? Conflicted loyalties during the Civil War? Post-war side-switching drama: Does Caesar leverage his offer of clemency in exchange for Brutus' submission beyond the political realm, and does the latter accept it with the long-term goal of building up his own support base and/or saving as many of his friends as he can? How does Brutus finally decide to commit tyrannicide, and how much of that decision is motivated by their relationship? Maybe a snapshot of Caesar's dying thoughts?
Mark Antony/Marcus Junius Brutus the Younger
Possible Tropes: political rivalry for Caesar's favor, Jealous!Antony/Bemused!Brutus, rivals to lovers, rivals with benefits(?), Smug-Debauchee!Antony/Disapproving-But-Comes-To-See-He's-Not-As-Dumb-As-He-Seems!Brutus, canon divergence, AU as above
Historically, not much seems to be known about their relationship(?) According to Plutarch, there seemed to be some respect for Brutus by Antony at least. Was this opinion derived from closer interactions after their shared service under Caesar? Or maybe some childhood, foreshadowing shenanigans? Is Antony jealous of Cassius/Caesar/Portia's shotgun marriage in relation to Brutus? Do they try to one-up each other in their political machinations? Does Antony hear and disregard rumors about the assassination because of his relationship with Brutus, and regret it later? Betrayal of Brutus' assassination on Caesar? Post-assassination fallout? Does Antony and/or Brutus trade the latter's escape from Rome for favors once freely given? Angst over the Battle Of Phillippi? A reflective, nostalgic memoir of a relationship remnant only in fragments saved from the indiscriminately merciless winds of time?
Julius Caesar/Marcus Junius Brutus the Younger + Mark Antony/Marcus Junius Brutus the Younger
Possible Tropes: Basically an amalgamation of the above, when applicable - plus an additional dose of jealousy and rivalry all around, lol. Caesar resignedly thinks that his younger deputy and benefactee(?) are hooking up at his expense, Antony thinks that he's the outsider in the generational relationship, and Brutus thinks dictator and deputy are passing him between them like a proxy object in their games. I'd love a straight-up poly threesome, although idk if that's allowed bc it's not in the nominations (?)
Star Wars Original Trilogy
Leia Organa/Han Solo + Leia Organa/Luke Skywalker or Leia Organa & Han Solo & Luke Skywalker
Possible Tropes: canon divergence where Darth Vader raises the twins under the Galactic Empire, canon compliant but Leia continues to be torn between Han and Luke after the sibling reveal
If you're comfortable with writing a Sith canon divergence AU, dear writer, I'd love a fic where, as above, Darth Vader benefits from the emotional/humane/redeeming connection to his children... But not enough to turn back to the light. Instead, he eventually overthrows Palpatine - who found Darth Vader less malleable without his complete devastation - and sits the throne himself, with the aim of conquering the galaxy under the Skywalker (? Maybe the presence of his children motivates him to retain and take pride in the family name? I'm not fussy about the specifics lol) name. Leia and Luke (both, one or even none become trained Siths - you choose), in the process of carrying out their father's orders, meet Han... And the rest is history, as they say(???) I don't really mind either platonic relationships or romantic ones between any of the three, as long as the fic is centred on their interactions. I'd love a straight-up poly threesome too, although idk if that's allowed bc it's not in the nominations (?)
If not, maybe canon complaint Leia Organa being torn between her own emerging feelings for both Luke and Hana even after the sibling reveal? Or Luke and Leia awkwardly trying to establish a new platonic relationship between them (and failing or succeeding according to your desires lol) with a mostly supportive Han that reassures them that he has actually seen weirder things in the galaxy. Or just a cute galaxy backpacking trip between OT3 (that is, anything at all that catches your muse's fancy lol.)
Darth Vader & Leia Organa
Can be added on to the above Big Three sandwich, or stand alone if you wish! Maybe a Sith!Leia's interactions with her father, or Leia Organa's reflections on the reveal of Darth Vader's identity etc. It doesn't have to come to a happy reconciliatory ending, but hopefully not a full-out tragedy, lol(?)
Riverdale
Jason Blossom/Cheryl Blossom or Jason Blossom & Cheryl Blossom
Possible Tropes: Coming of age, angst in hindsight, nostalgic, AU where Jason lives
I'm not all caught up on the TV show, but I don't mind spoilers so go all out, lol. Childhood fluff and/or pre/post-death angst is all fine, but I'd prefer it to end on a comparatively positive note (Cheryl comes to terms with the death and herself etc).
Or partial or complete AU where Jason survives/never was killed and the siblings continue their lives together.
My ao3 is ohmyvalar.
